TECHREP #00034

reported by Julien Vida on December 1, 2016

FROM: Tools Commissar
TO: Arma 3 Modders
MATERIEL CATEGORY: Tools
CIRCUMSTANCES: 1.04 (Binarize)
SIZE: ~19.7 MB

STATUS

This update is the first result of a recently outlined roadmap for the Tools, as shared in the Roadmap 20016-17 blog post.

First up is Binarize; besides some small optimizations and improvements, the most noticeable addition is an output. The output is technically similar to the well known RPT. However, it contains binarization related entries and doesn't create a RPT file. The output can be caught by redirecting the stderr to the destination of a users' choice. For now, it is unfiltered and considered experimental; we hope to refine it in the upcoming updates. There is no need to catch the output when using Addon Builder, as it is already available in Addon Builder's logs.

Next is ImageToPAA (formerly known as Pal2Pac) which has received the ability to process ADS HQ. This is a HQ version of the ambient shadow map (AS) used to define how much ambient light should be set on a given surface. Also, it now loads the config file from the working directory; if that fails for some reason, the old way (the registry settings) is used.

As per usual, your feedback and suggestions are very welcome via the well known channels: Feedback Tracker & the forums.
